MASSENA TURNS IT UP IN 2ND HALF TO WIN CLASS A CROWN


Malone's Laura Pelkey slides into the ball and "pool cues" it into the corner of the net for the Huskies' lone goal.  The Massena Red Raiders countered with two goals from Dominic Valancias and another from Nysa Laclair to eliminate the Huskies in the Section X Class A Championship 3-1.  Tylor Bacon stop seven shots for Massena. MASSENA OVERMATCHED BY CORTLAND IN 4-1 STATES LOSS

Massena's Nyssa Laclair (18) tangles with Cortland's Casey Marks (4) and comes away with the ball.  Marks had a pair of goals and an assist to lead Cortland's offensive assault.  Laclair assisted on the Raiders' lone goal.  Massena finished its season with a 16-4 record, while Cortland advance to the New York State Class A Final Four Tournament with a 16-4 record.

Potsdam Season Ends in State Playoff in 4OT & Shootout

STONERS MISS KEY CHANCES, BOW TO HORNETS IN STATES


Potsdam’s Cassie Grace (7) reaches in to poke the ball away from a Plattsburgh Hornets' attacker.  Potsdam and Plattsburgh battled to a scoreless deadlock through regulation and two overtimes.  Plattsburgh outlasted Potsdam in the shootouts 3-2 to win the opening round of the N.Y. State Class B Region II playoffs. Potsdam had three golden chances to win the game at the end of regulation and in overtime, but failed to connect on nearly open shots. POTSDAM NAILS 5 FIRST-HALF GOALS TO CLAIM "B" TITLE


The ball slips beyond the reach of Canton goalie Kasie Wentworth and is tucked just under the crossbar for a Potsdam goal.  Ginette Cornett and Kaila Maguire each scored scored two goals to launch a five-goal first-half outburst that propelled Potsdam to a 6-0 win in the Section X Class C Championship.  (Mike Webb photo)  Game Gallery

Potsdam's Caitlyn Kellogg (15) speeds through the middle of the field while being chased and redirected by Canton defender Catherine Sweeney (4).  Kellogg contributed two assists.  Cassie Grace and Beth Shepherd also netted goals for Potsdam.  The Bears finished their season at 7-11-1.

O.F.A. BLUE DEVILS DEFEAT GOUVERNEUR IN "B" PLAY-IN


 Gouverneur keeper Nictoria Bates snares the ball with Ogdensburg's Sarah Small (13) trying to slip behind for the ball.  The 4th seeded Ogdensburg Blue Devils defeated #5 seeded Gouverneur 2-0 in the Section X Class B Play-In Round on Tuesday. CANTON BEATS SALMON RIVER 1-0 IN O.T. ON FANNING GOAL

B-M Outlasts Larries For Section Title, But Bows in States

B-M PANTHERS UPSET LARRIES IN SHOOTOUT FOR "C" TITLE

The Brushton-Moira Panthers won the Section X Class C Championship game and will move on to play Section VII's Seton Catholic in the state tournament.  The goalies were the focus as Taylor stopped five shots for the Panthers and Brittany Rotach stopped three shots for the Larries in a very defensive game.  Kelsey Manchester and Mercedes Russell scored for B-M in the shootout. Shelby McGraw and Amanda Locke netted scores for the Larries.  After a 2-2 draw in the first five penalty kicks, JV call-up Jessica Jock slammed the game-winning kick for the Panthers.
 

#3 B-M PANTHERS OUTLAST
#2 TUPPER LAKE IN SHOOTOUT


Tupper Lake’s Taylor Keniston (16) sends the ball past Brushton-Moira’s Chenice Russell (44).  The Panthers and Lumberjacks battled to a 0-0 tie through four overtimes.  Third-seeded Brushton-Moira won the shootout 3-2 to win their Section X Class C semifinal over #2 seeded Tupper Lake.

Tupper Lake’s Allysa Houle (5) comes in and chips the ball away from a Brushton-Moira player.  Kelsey Manchester, Brittany Martin and Emily LaPage pocketed the shootout goals for the Panthers.  Kayla Kenyon and Beth Keniston registered the goals for Tupper Lake in the shootout. Maegan Duhaime pulled in eight shots ior Lumberjacks who finished 6-8-4.

Madrid-Waddington's Shaina Macintosh (18) is marked closely by Norwood-Norfolk's C.C. Roy (20) as she tries to turn toward the goal.  Macintosh's goal came in the 109th minute of play.  Both goalies, N-N's Kristin Foote and M-W's Alex Martin each had ten saves in windy and rainy conditions.  The Jackets now advance to play St. Lawrence in the semifinals.

CHATEAUGAY THE BETTER BULLDOG IN 4-0 SEMIFINAL WIN


On this day, Chateaugay was the better Bulldog in the matchup of two state-ranked Bulldogs' teams.  Chateaugay’s Katie Hamelin (5) fires a shot through heavy Heuvelton traffic in front of the net, but it just sails just wide of the net.  Hamelin had two goals, while Marissa Cook also provided two goals and an assist to power a 4-0 win in the Section X Class D semifinals at SUNY Potsdam.  (Eric Foote photo)  Game Gallery

Heuvelton finishes its season at 13-5-2, while Chateaugay advances to play Harrisville for the Class D title.
 

HEUVELTON TURNS BACK ROCKETS 3-1 IN QUARTERFINAL

Heuvelton’s Heather Johnson has the ball just knocked away by Morristown’s Kirsten Skelly (12).  Skelly relentlessly shadowed Johnson, but was unable to prevent her from netting all three Heuvelton goals.  Two of the goals were scored from direct kicks just under the crossbar.  Chloe Whalen who had several good scoring opportunities, tied the game 1-1 in the 53rd minute to give the Rockets life.  Cassy Fobare made eight saves for Heuvelton, while Morristown's Amanda Bertrand made nine saves.
 

HARRISVILLE RIPS 3 QUICK GOALS TO OUST LISBON 3-0

Lady Pirates celebrate after notching their first goal from Hunter Fowler in the 29th minute, opening the gates for two more goals in just over six minutes, before the halftime.  The Pirates advance to play Edwards-Knox.  Both teams are ranked in the state's Top 20 rankings.  Lisbon finished its season at 8-12-1.  Harrisville improved to 16-0-3 overall.
 

MORRISTOWN NIPS HAMMOND 2-1 IN CLASS D PLAY-IN ROUND

#5 ST. REGIS SURGE BACK TO BEAT #12 COLTS IN OPENER

The fifth-seeded St. Regis Falls Saints needed to take their second half to the next level if they wanted to advance their post-season to the next level. Trailing 2-1 at intermission to #12 seeded Colton- Pierrepont, the Saints jacked up the intensity and turned the tide with three second-half goals en route to a 4-2 win in the Section X Class D opening round. Emily Watson and Alex Sochia put the Colts (0- 18-1) into the lead before the half. But Krista Lucas and and Khalisha White, who each scored a pair of goals, led the surge back. Danielle Fountain also fed two of the Saints’ assists. The victory matches the Saints against #4 seeded Edwards-Knox in the Section X Class D quarterfinals on Thursday at SUNY Canton.
 

CHAZY DEALS HARRISVILLE'S
FIRST LOSS IN STATE Q-FINAL


Chazy’s Madelaine Guay (14) controls the ball while being defended by Harrisville’s Hunter Fowler (16).  Guay broke a scoreless deadlock just nine minutes into the second half on a cross from Astrid Kempainen.  Caitlyn  LaPier also scored on a pass from Shauni Trombley to boost Chazy past Harrisville 2-0 and into the New York State Class D Final Four.

Harrisville keeper Patty Coloney makes a diving stop on a shot from Chazy’s Morgan Roussy (12).  Coloney made 13 saves to keep the Lady Pirates in the game.  Chazy goalie Katherine Tooke made four saves to preserve the shutout.  Chazy improved to 17-1-1, while Harrisville finished the season with their first loss of the year at 18-1-3.

Harrisville's Leah Malbeuf (15) clears the ball away from Chateaugay attacker Marissa Cook (9).  Malbeuf scored the lone goal on a partially miss-struck ball, in the slot about 15 feet in front of the net.  The ball tipped off a defender and angled slightly, just past the diving Chateaugay goalie Amanda Wilcox who made five saves.  Patty Coloney had six saves in the shutout win.  Harrisville will advance to the State Sectional playoffs with a first-round bye.  The Pirates move directly to the Region II final at Potsdam Central on Friday at 5:00 p.m. 
 

PIRATES STOPS E-K COUGARS IN "D" SEMIFINALS WITH 3-0 WIN

CLIFTON-FINE UPSETS H-D DEMONS IN OPENER SHOOTOUT


Clifton-Fine’s Morgan Lawrence (8) clears the ball out in a battle with Hermon-DeKalb’s Kaylee O’Donnell (11).  After a 1-1 tie through four overtimes, Clifton-Fine won a shootout 3-2 to oust the Demons in the opening round of the Section X Class D playoffs. (Eric Foote photo)  Game Gallery

Clifton-Fine’s Emily Lachut (9) has the ball poked away by Hermon-DeKalb’s Katie Schober (8).  The #10 Eagles got a goal from Katherin Donovan in regulation then a goal in the shootout to lead the Eagles over #7 Hermon-DeKalb.  Rochelle Whitton scored for the Demons.  Clifton-Fine goalie Jordyn Sullivan made nine saves, while H-D's Beth Zeller made eight stops.  Hermon-DeKalb finished their season  at 6-11-3 overall.
